Successful PR and communications delivered with confidence, consistency and clarity do not have to cost the earth – but at the same time, you cannot do it cheaply or cut corners on costs.
I am upfront and transparent about all my fee and production costs to avoid any confusion.
These will always be shown in advance to work being commissioned. In the case of retained work, they will be set out in a signed letter of agreement.
However, it is not just about the money. It’s about longevity and working to agreed timescales.
Effective PR and communications, like sporting achievements, is not a one-off hit.
Sustained tennis champions (like Roger Federer and Serena Williams, pictured here for example) achieve so much because they match high levels of skill with doable challenges and immediate feedback. And they find ways to win when others would give up.
Like any winning combination, achieving your goals requires an investment in time, resources, energy and cash. And plenty of determination.
As well as agreeing costs, clients also have to want to commit to PR and communications strategies and programmes.
There are no shortcuts, silver bullets, quick fixes or magic wands to wave.
If you want to win hearts and minds you have to walk the walk, talk the talk and deliver on your promises… all the while being the best that you can be every single time you have an engagement with your stakeholders.
Sounds daunting? Sounds like fun to me.
